Works fine here (using Firefox). Maybe try using a different program to download the file?
For example in Terminal use: ftp ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/bin/1.5.6/LyX-1.5.6-Mac-Universal.dmg (File downloads to the current directory.) /Konrad
