recently i spent quite some time trying to fix some of these paste bugs.
either wait for rc1 or try to build latest trunk, maybe things get better.

Which is to say, there are known selection issues on X11. It's very
complicated, and a lot of people have tried to make it work exactly
right. No-one has yet succeeded. But it's not just LyX that has this
problem. I often have trouble pasting between Thunderbird and other
applications. Sometimes it works to go via some third application.
