Uwe, I don't want to play the commit war with you. Please could you somehow
incorporate these two things into manuals?

1. Some _visible_ and clear statement around the section about default cm fonts about the cm -> lm convenience.

It is already there, I just removed doubled and incorrect info. We currently
have:

"The best solution is to use the Latin Modern (lm) fonts. These fonts are developed in order of the LaTeX community to replace cm as default fonts. In most cases they look the same as cm, but lm covers a vast number of characters over the other two families cm and ce."

2. The notion about difference (kerning). The current difference you put in
won't
convince me. Maybe puting it into footnote if you feel its advanced. The fact
that some users have never heard about kerning shouldn't prevent to inform
people who knows what the kerning is.

Hmm, I try to keep he UserGuide simple if this is possible. When people read something about kerning, they are lost. So I need to describe somwhere what kerning is, but don't think this is something for the UserGuide, more for the Extended manual. If you not agree, then please re-add this info as footnote.

regards Uwe
