According to http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/NewInLyX16, "Users are invited

Instead, I'd like to suggest improving the session management
itself: the ability to store/restore multiple sessions on demand
(and not only on closing/reopening/crashing LyX itself) will be very
helpful, especially for users working on a lot of inter-related
documents simultaneously.
What I mean is somewhat close to the "Session Manager" extension
for Firefox. Well, the screenshots are self-explanatory, especially the
first one is a nice approximation of what I have in mind:

That's a nice and sensible request but a big one :-). Could you please
put this in an enhancement request in bugzilla.lyx.org ?
I'm not really sure if it isn't too late for 1.6... but maybe for
1.6.1?
I guess 1.6.1 will be for urgent fixes following 1.6.0. We have a policy
of developing new feature in the development version that would become
1.7 so, if it is implemented and unless it is backported this will first
appear in 1.7.0, one year from now.
BTW the list of new features listed for 1.6 is really impressive!
Almost everything that I was forced to achieve via scripts (sometimes
even including awk working on lyx and resulting latex documents) can now
be done inside the application itself. LyX is an excellent example of
the efectiveness of FLOSS, when done right.
That's nice to hear. 1.6.0 will be a great release for sure :-)
