Dear all, Because my embedding patch was 'almost done', I took the time and implemented all the features of my proposal in the past few days, just to prove that 'the embedding feature can be made ready for 1.6.0', and 'the technical side of the discussions was easy'. I have put a patch and a sample document under http://www.lyx.org/~bpeng/lyx-embed/ . If you are interested in playing with this feature, you can download and apply the patch (created against r25090), run 'svn mv lib/images/attic/pin.png lib/images' and compile.
This feature is implemented through LFUN and context menus so there is no change to inset dialogs. This invalidates the last criticism (cluttering the GUI) against my proposal. I have explained the rationales behind individual embedding again in http://www.lyx.org/~bpeng/lyx-embed/embedding_feature.pdf but I guess they will not make any sense to 'global bundling' believers.
