Hi all,
as discussed during the weekend and in order to fix the problems that
appeared with beta 1 I have tagged a new release (beta 2).
As it happened previously I am asking for help to guarantee that there
are no
embarrassing bugs. I mean in this case a failure to compile, on any of our
traditional platforms, or any dataloss bug.
In the context of the first beta a crash under certain circumstances is
not
embarrassing although it is certainly a bug that should be fixed.
So let us please test this release and when there is some confidence in
the
release tar ball let us announce this also in the users list.
Uwe please do not announce a win package in the users list before we
have a
green light from all the involved platforms. Note that an announcement in the
devel list for binary packages for beta 2 is reasonable since anyone reading
your message will have seen this message before. I am just asking for a
restraint to send the announcement for the users list. Is this OK with you?
