Did you set the language to English? If not then you have three way to that:
1) select "od ot tnaw", then Edit->Text Style->Customized, then select
English in the combobox.
2) Alt-x to bring the minibuffer, type 'language english', enter.
3) You can bind a key to the command above in the file
"lib/bind/cua.bind" in your installation directory.
Also there's a lot of information about BIDI in the wiki (for hebrew,
arabic and farsi), you should have a look at that.
Last word: this is the development list, you might have better help if
you ask on the user list.
