Edwin, I have seen this link a few times, are you sure you want to propose your idea? We have been called masochists! Seriously, it seems that you are not going to implement your idea so you have to convince someone else to do that for you. If nobody is going to consider your idea and willing to implement it, your idea will not be implemented, however good it might be. The three proposals involved in the discussions all have proof-of-concept patches, yet the discussions have been difficult. I, for one, will not look at your proposal if there is no patch, or at least a detailed description of how it works, and why it is better than some of the proposals here. I am not impolite, I am just do not have time to examine a premature proposal and figure out all the missing pieces. Your proposal may be good at the first glance, but the devil is often in the details. Taking Richard's proposal as an example, it is based on this very simple 'copy to filename.lyxdir' idea that looks very appealing. Yet it is challenged for several drawbacks. Are you sure your proposal can survive such a close look? No offense, really. Bo
