What I like about this picture is that it conveys the uniqueness and
personality of LyX by showing some of the beautiful output it can
produce. On the other hand, the current image has some nicer visual
effects (e.g. the "download" button is nicer than the new image's). I'm
OK with either one. Here is the new image in unflattened PNG and PSD
formats:

I'll leave it to you guys to make the call on this.

Hi,
I am not subscribed to the list and use gmane newsgroup interface to
connect, so I hope this email reaches the list fine (it works with the
user mailing list).
I think this image fails in "showing some of the beautiful output it
[lyx] can produce". The two equations look distorted (in the PSD, they
are layers "Bitmap#3" and "Bitmap#5"). The top-left equation (min ...)
looks like it has been vertically squeezed while the bottom-left one
(the cases environment) looks like it has been vertically stretched (the
2 "for k" especially). It looks better when I rescale the "min" equation
layer of 120% vertically and the "for k" of 70-80% vertically (not
changing horizontal size). Of course, the best would be to use the
proportions as they are produced by LyX/LaTeX.
Best regards,
Olivier
PS: Having used the "prealpha-" versions of LyX 1.6 on Windows for
several weeks, I'd like to say how pleasing the experience is (I'll wait
for official betas to report minor issues). And the new website also is
a nice improvement.
