Well, of course this statement is only subjective. I see this package in many preambles of TeX-files
I get to review and customizing captions of often requested on the lyx-users list. I therefore
described it in basics in the EmbeddedObjects manual.
(Personally I use this package for every document that is not a koma-script
one.)
