  It should be said that lyx has changed a lot in between. In some ways the 
work done in general has simplified the work to produce a decent docbook 
output.

  Some examples of this:
  - the distinction between "Plain Layout" and "Standard" layouts can simply 
the export code for tables a lot.
  - the flexibility of layout files has increased a lot.
  - logical character styles (flex)

  I will try to see what can be done to replace your lyxtolyx script. It 
should be a lot easier now than it was before.
