The problem was a pulled network cable connecting an 'unused machine' to a rack that got replaced. But in any case it might be not the worst idea to look out for alternatives as the new owners of the company are known to have pretty strict opinions on network security that can (and probably will) rule out the current setup. And that may be within a time frame of a few weeks... Andre'
