the only thing i want to do is to have selections drawn correctly, that
is: selection color background, highlighted text color foreground
I know that the current way to paint selections is not excatly nice,
but adding a major body of code on top of that would set that even
deeper in stone.
I could imagine a separate drawing phase between metrics and paint
to do the background painting. This could pass down all neceessary
information, like all insets containing the cursor or such.
the problem is the foreground painting...
