insert->subdocument. Select some other lyx document. Leave the "embed" checkbox blank as embedding is not wanted this time Observe that the included file is embedded anyway!
This is simple to fix for the user - just bring up the dialog again and un-embed the file. No-one should need to do that though. Helge Hafting
