I receive the same error if I start a new document, select the AMS class,
add the "Theorems (AMS)" module, write a theorem or proposition, and try to
view the document. I do not get this error message if I select the "Theorem"
module instead. I do need, however, to use the "Theorems (AMS)" module for
my work.
I'll look at this shortly. In the meantime, try adding
"\usepackage{amsthm}" to the preamble.
