Hi, With the mechanism of using a local layout file in place, it is silly to only allow opening, but not creating, a .lyx file with local layout file. I am working on a patch that adds a browse button to the right of the layout combobox in document->settings. Please speak up if you have reasons to object. (This proposal was rejected before.)
