This is definetively a must for LyX 1.6.
I tested your patch carefully and it works perfectly. The subfloat feature is intuitive and saves a
lot of ERT I had to use e.g. in the EmbeddedObjects manual to get subfloats to work with LyX.
(While testing I stumbled over http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4595 , I hope Richard can fix
this too for Lyx 1.6 using the new index entry inset framework.)
