wrt references: 2. slider depth cant be set and manual unroll is canceled by updates (this maybe tricky to get right wrt 3740 bug. i played some time with this bug and didnt find quick solution.)
I think the we should disable the slider for non toc list.

Yes, it will soon be like this, I still have to finish the InsetLabel part.
4. dont know if its intention or bug, but the view is set to the paragraph containing reference not to the line of reference.
Problem is that we use a ParIterator in TocItem, will see if we can replace that with a DocIterator but I don't promise anything.
5. painting problems of outliner when smaller window is set. see attached.
