MS Word always creates a new document when you launch it maybe we should do this also when there is no sessions file?
Yes -- that is standard behavior for almost all programs on Mac
Pavel, are you taking that item? (I am just passing the hot potato :-))
this i call intuition. i read this sentence few seconds after i prepared to cry against this 'feature' while reading previous mails ;) i really like
the current 'logo' style of startup.
I guess I agree for the first window (i.e. at startup). But maybe we should do that on "New Window"?

my idea was to have in new window opened the same document as in the first
window,
but i really have no strong opinion about that. this would mean tweaking
LFUN_BUFFER_SWITCH
so it can open document not only by its name, but also by its enabled status in
the
previouis window or so.

Hum, I guess this feature should be better placed in the View submenu along the "split view" menu item.

Thinking a bit more about it, we should probably have a preference settings for "File->New". The default right now is to have the new document in a new tab. But on Mac, if I followed Bennett correctly "File->New" should open the new document in a new window.

i agree with Bennett that the invisibility mode is hard to grasp for the first
time.
until you adviced me to look into the view menu in new window i really didnt
get the point...
and i agree with you, once you know you want to have it :)

Happy to not be alone thinking this way ;-)

maybe more verbose intro to the philosophy of multiple work areas you brought
to 1.6
would be helpful (in NewInLyX16?).

Be my guest :-)

Abdel.
