arrgh i locally compiled Qt4.2 for that reason here. i even changed the directory to ~/designer/qt-x11-opensource-src-4.2.3/bin. but then i typed designer instead of ./designer *cough* sorry for the disturbance; will try to move to 4.4. pavel
