Yes, this is a general problem. The iconv processes are very expensive if the
whole unicode range is involved (especially on Windows, apparently; here,
it "just" takes 30 seconds).
Ah yes, this is the initial Encoding table construction isn't it? I
promised to do something about that sometime ago but I don't really have
time now... If someone volunteers this should be pretty easy to fix with
a encoding description file.
And switching from one category to another takes
10 seconds each time ("Display all" is unchecked).
