Hi,

I'd like to suggest that we add a step to the release procedure, namely that we generate the documentation as PDFs. I've prepared a location for these files in a directory structure on aussie under the directory

        /home/lyx/www/pmwiki/uploads/LyX/Documentation

This directory structure and its contents are automatically shown in the wiki page
        http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/Documentation#PDFs

My suggested structure is simply

        1.5.0/
        1.5.1/
        1.5.2/
        1.5.3/
        1.5.4/
        ...

but we can of course make it deeper, i.e.

        1.4/
                1.4.0/
                1.4.1/
        1.5/
                1.5.0/
                1.5.1/

Once the PDFs have been created, they could just be scp:ied to their proper location. So for the 1.5.4-series, it's probably just a matter of doing:

  scp *.pdf \
      aussie.lyx.org:/home/lyx/www/pmwiki/uploads/LyX/Documentation/1.5.4

Do we really need to keep a PDF of the documenation for 1.5.0, 1.5.1, 1.5.2, 1.5.3 and so on? Well, I'll leave that question to be discussed on Friday... :-)

Best regards,
Christian

PS. I was previously worried about storing "important" files that shouldn't be modified in the "upload/"-area which is handled by the file managment software IPFM. Since then, I've remembered that IPFM has the "feature" that files/directories that were manually created by e.g. SSH may not be modified via IPFM. This means that as long as we just 'scp' the files into the area, they cannot be modified by IPFM.
