there is something really rotten. once i get rid of the crash i'm unable to reproduce it in any normal way. closing/launching lyx wont help; restarting my box wont help. twice i was able to bring it back. it may have something with manual manual editing of ~/.lyx/preferences file and saving it, but its nothing reliable - it may be even unrelated. once brought back, than the crash endure until i use one of two ways we know eliminate the crash. weird. pavel
