Dear LyX developers, I would like to report something that looks like a LyX bug in the handling of French/Russian quotation marks. As shown in the attached Sweave document using the Noweb class, I chose "<<text>>" in Document > Settings > Language > Quote style [1]. The language setting - English or French - seems not to be an issue.
The problem is that upon exporting to .pdf the quotation marks of «Hello world!» translate into two black boxes [2]. In the .tex file [3] «Hello world!» translated to <<Hello world!>>. I suspect that this might be an encoding issue. The previous document uses utf8 encoding. If the document encoding is set to default [4], pdflatex generates this ugly output of French characters [5], while the .tex file [6] is much similar to the previous one. Could anyone please shed some light on this issue? Is there any way to work around? The main problem is that this bug is a stopper to writing French Sweave documents, at least those that require at least two quotation marks.
