The first time I run LyX (or rather if there is no LyX-1.5-folder) with this modification only the "old" file/folder creation in ~/ Library/Application support happens. Ah -- I missed that. A few quoting problems. (Anders, you probably have a directory, "~/Library/Application", that can be deleted.) It should be fixed now; try the attached.

This raises a question, though. Now, with no existing user's directory, this script will create it before launching LyX (i.e., lyx- app). However, once this is done, when lyx-app launches it does not display the splash document. Is there a neat way to ensure this doesn't happen?

One way that works is to launch lyx-app at the beginning of the script, followed by

sleep 3

before continuing with the rest of the script, writing example and templates folders, etc. Is there a problem with doing it this way? Any better solutions?

Another problem I've noticed is that when LyX is launched, the LyX icon in the dock hiccups, as if its launch was interrupted. Any ideas how this can be fixed?

A final question: Am I launching lyx-app correctly like this? --

${CURRENTDIR}/lyx-app &

(Do I need to pass any arguments to it?)
