cvs update

I notice that the cvs server attempts to update directories that no longer
exist. Specifically:

config/gnome
src/frontends/gtk
src/frontends/include

It also updates a directory that exists but that we don't (currently) use,
src/xtl. Perhaps this too should be removed?
