Hi,

I've been a LyX user since about version 0.10 and use it for almost everything I write. I've overall been very happy with it (thanks guys), except for one thing that really irritates me and I'm hoping will be fixed at some point. That thing is irregular scrolling speed. Whenever I have big figures/tables/equations in a LyX document, it seems like the scroll speed becomes very fast around these objects. In extreme cases, if a figure spans the entire LyX screen, it becomes pretty much impossible to scroll where I want. But even for smaller objects, it is very annoying because the eye is used to tracking the text at constant speed. Whenever there's a sudden jump (e.g. when hitting a small object), the eye completely loses track of where things are. Thus it take a lot more time to spot things in the document while scrolling.

Is there any way this behaviour could be fixed? Seriously, as far as I'm concerned (I know I'm not the only user), if 1.6 had to have only one feature/improvement, it would be smooth scrolling.

I might add that PageDown key scrolling is already fixed in 1.6svn. And no, this is not easily backportable to 1.5. What is also fixed is Page scrolling with the mouse (when you click in the gray area of the scrollbar).

Abdel.
