Hi,
having read your discussion only now because I was off line for several
days, I would like to comment from a users point of view.
I would like to argue that you should make more publicity for the key
bindings and provide some easily accessible list of all actual key bindings.
When I'm working on a document, is is the key board I'm using and I
resent every time I have to take my hand off the key board to use the mouse.
Being able to find and read the *.bind, *.layout files I got used to
many key bindings like 'ctrl+c b', 'ctrl+c e' and so on.
In my opinion this is much more efficient for my writing than any menu
(using the mouse) or bold button alternative.
I suppose most users will have a very limited number of modifications to
be done during the actual writing. These everybody could learn from the
list of the key bindings and will remember (hopefully ;-), I least I do)
without too much difficulties. Especially given the huge saving of time
working in this way.
I have to admit that I didn't check the actual documentation from this
point of view, though.
Anyway, LyX is my favorite tools for years now and I'm very thankful for
your work.
Best regards
Hellmut
more important things.... Actually, this discussion should be posted
to the user list as well, but users' opinions do not always count.
There are users following your interesting discussions ;-)
