I know that (I can read).

My point is that they are simple latex commands (macro or switch, I do
not care). The biggest difference between \emph and CharStyle Emph is
that

1. \emph is \emph in latex. It is a LATEX thing. A user can *not*
change \emph (at the lyx level).

2. CharStyle Emph is

CharStyle Emph
        LatexType        Command
        LatexName        myemph
        Font
                Family       italic
        EndFont
        Preamble
                \newcommand{\myemph}[1]{{\blah{\blah #1}}}
        EndPreamble
End

which is a LYX thing, it is an inset. It can be changed in .layout
(and should be configurable in document->settings).

Their usages, appearance, are vastly different. It would be weird to
put \strong next to \emph. If you ever plan to put a \stong to the
toolbar, you would better put real char styles there.
