I'd strongly suggest that 1.5.2 not be released until this can be ported
there.
I am afraid that backporting the whole metrics/draw is too much work.
The slowness thing can make LyX essentially unusable. There are
workarounds, but they don't always work. If Abdel can fix the remaining
problems, that's even better.
I guess I could if someone showed me some numbers (that is profile). It
seems that these slowdown are not related to painting, otherwise you
would see it always.
