Not at all, if you think that TeX has not substantially changed in the
last 20 years or so, whereas LyX is a moving target.
Heck, I have latex documents from 1990 that I am still able to compile
and obtain the same results today. Granted that you must build a latex2.09
format, but that is a breeze with initex. On the contrary, lyx2lyx or
not, I am hardly able to convert old LyX documents without the need of
a manual intervention to fix problems, sigh.
