I notice that the status line (if this is the correct term) shows some info when choosing fonts, and other 'meta' commands. For example, M-c will then show choices. This is reminiscent of emacs.
With emacs, however, I would learn the bindings by hitting ?, to get some info. Wish lyx did this. Also, after choosing a command by other means (not using a key binding), emacs will teach me that I could have used, e.g., M-c p to select typewriter.
