Know you're working on the drawing stuff, and not trying to make your life more difficult...rather, trying to help.
Open a document, put the cursor at the beginning of a word in the middle of a sentence, hit space (which you're not allowed to do). The line becomes oddly darker. This seems to be because the line is being redrawn without being cleared first---redrawn in a very slightly different spot. You can get weirder behavior by doing this on a line that is centered or right-justified.
