As long as there is no consensus on what the replacement will look like
autotools stays the preferred build environment (and I hate it, too, but
that's not the point).

We can re-open the discussion and try to reach a new consensus, but
until we have that LyX source has to be buildable with autotools.

[And getting consensus more or less boils down to you and Peter agreeing
on whether to use scons or cmake, and the survivor showing the rest that
we don't use any of the features of autotools we are actively using (or
propose a reasonable alternative to those features)[
