This was not aimed at you, of course. That was an error, and we all
make errors. However, if you use the latest Qt version for development,
you simply cannot be sure that you are not using a latest-version-only
feature.

I don't know fedora, so I cannot tell you. However, you can have several
different Qt4 versions installed without conflicts (adjust PATH and
LD_LIBRARY_PATH to select the one you will use).

Note that it is much simpler and faster building Qt4 from sources than it
is building LyX. I have 4.1.5, 4.2.3, and 4.3.1 installed and I configure
LyX for each version through a script without any hassle.
