I started the thread by asking for my personal use (not for the project,

I'm considering Bazaar or Mercurial, while skipping git for some reason I
can't remember. It's only for my personal files, so I might just choose
one and then later switch. In this case, the revision history isn't as
important as being able to synchronize between different machines.
