This is not my point. I agree that character styles are a nice thing.
But the inset interface is still not optimal IMO.

What I mean is that character styles are still not used for emph/noun,
not associated to easy shortcuts/icons. If they were, we'd start
having complaints that using C-e twice leads to two nested insets.
And of course, this box prevents line-breaking.

None of this is horrible to fix, but I think we miss a lot of polish.
