Would even explaining the slowness. On X, a pixmap already resides on
the server, so 'painting' a pixmap is comparatively fast as no network
traffic is involved.

With VNC, however, the pixmap resides on the server, and only when
displaying in on the client (i.e. 'everytime') it gets transported over
the net.
