Attached is a demo document showing how to use xetex with LyX.
pdf file(69kB): http://www.aitel.hist.no/~helgehaf/xetex.pdf

Xetex is a TeX variant that uses unicode. Set the LyX encoding
to utf8-plain. Then, any unicode character will work in the document,
provided you have them in the font used.

The demo document mixes Latin, Greek, Russian and Chinese
with little effort.

To test:
Load the document into LyX-1.5
File->Export->LaTeX(pdflatex)
$ xelatex xetex.tex
View the resulting xetex.pdf

Would it be interesting to have
view->PDF(xelatex)
File->Export->PDF(xelatex)
File->Export->LaTeX(xelatex) ?

Support for xetex font commands can be added later.
