I am not exactly here but I am more or less online. I've read only the
most recent messsages as there are more that 1300 messages since I left!
Anyway, from a quick parsing of your patch, it looks OK to me and I
agree with the approach. I should have done this a long time ago but
when I touched this stuff, I was just beginning with LyX code and did
not want to put invasive change.
Note that this fixes bug 2671, allows for a very simple fix of 518,
and also starts towards but 3677. I have plans to define LabelString
for counter, which would finish these fixes.
