   I agree that a math toolbar would be a great idea.  I know Klyx had 
something like this, but I haven't heard anything from them for a long time 
now.  Would a move to a GTK interface allow more configurability with the 
interface and menus? To my mind the best solution might be a setup where a 
math toolbar had a series of default options, and would allow people to 
choose additional buttons from a preferences menu or something.  I have a 
lot of issues with microsoft word, but I must admit I like the idea of 
letting the user choose how many buttons and menus to show.  Would something 
like that be a good compromise between those who want lots of buttons and 
those who want a spartan interface?  I know a lot of people (including 
myself to an extent) who are willing to accept slower document creation in 
order to avoid the hassle of memorizing lots of syntax and typed commands.
