Attached an examples
1) TEST.lyx this contains a lyx file without table.

Problem is.
The file as is (without empty table) compiles under LyX and produces a dvi file. If I add a table from the menu, then LyX refuses to compile and outputs a plethora of errors and creates a DVI with a lot of Bogus wrong pages. Can someone confirm this please by 1) compiling as is to verify it works without table 2) just adding an empty table from the menu and compiling, verify that it does not work with an empty table.

I attach an example with an empty table inserted as TEST1.lyx which already contain an empty table as you would get by doing what I describe above, which can be used to track what LyX does wrong on this end.

The problem started before lyx 1.4.4 and made all my existing LyX files (spanning years) unusable due to this table backward compatibility problem. the problem persists with all later LyX distributions since about September 2006 and makes all the years of LyX files i have unusable.
Thanks

I get a LaTex error already with test.lyx (on 1.5.1 on Mac PPC):

LaTeX Error: Command \Telefon already defined.

with the details:

\newcommand\Telefon{\mvchr{84}}
Your command was ignored.
Type I <command> <return> to replace it with another command,
or <return> to continue without it.
