I'll make my previous suggestion again: Switch to the open document, but
then (if the document is dirty) issue the "Do you want to revert?"
message. A bit more code, but I think it could be confusing to switch to
a document that wasn't the same as the one on disk that you thought you
were opening.
What's the exact wording of your message box?
Well, subject to changes: "The file [document?] blah.lyx was already
open and has been changed. Do you want to abandon your changes and
reload the version on disk?" [Reload] [Cancel]
I think "reload" is a commonly understood term---and maybe clearer than
"revert". As for "cancel", I'm not sure what it should be. "Continue" is
potentially misleading, even with "editing" after it.
