Well, commenting out the dri section and the module has once again improved the speed of LyX. It is now fast enough that I wouldn't complain about any speed issues. However, it made Stellarium unusable again. I don't use Stellarium, so I'll keep the dri setting to improve LyX speed. Cheers, Bob Lounsbury
