I often compile with gcc 2.96 (latest cvs) and glibc 2.1.2, but I am
using the libstdc++-v3 in the gcc 2.96 cvs checkout.

Note also that you are compiling with an experimantal compiler, with
some experimantal libraries. so you must expect problems.

I think the errors are on your side.
