Old as in "1.3" or as in "1.4". I don't think we changed anything in 1.5
but I am not sure...
Also I point out that LyX still allows a permanent dangling space at the
end of a paragraph which is even less consistent with the current
gestapo behaviour.
Does that trailing space means something in LateX (this is a genuine
question). AFAIU two consecutive spaces mean nothing in LateX.
