Really? If so, it is a bug that should be fixed. The patch looks OK to

Note that:
- lyx paste to where mouse is
As do almost every other graphical app . . .
- many other applicate paste to where cursor is (e.g. gvim)
I believe gvim do this so it won't be too different from
running vim in a xterm. And vim works this way because
it is a text-only app with no concept of a mouse position.
It is possible for a text-only app to know about mouse positioning,
but few of them try because they might be running on a
mouse-less terminal. Mouse cut/paste is then a function of
the terminal, not the app itself.
