I am not sure I understand what exact problem you are discussing, but
when one is at the end of a line and presses deleted, what gets
deleted is the space that has acted as line separator. The only other
case I can think of is with display insets, and there, deleting the
inset on next row when pressing deleted looks reasonable enough.

I think the behavior should be made as simple as possible.
