This topic is now completely opaque to me. I'm guessing "minibuffer"
means what you get when doing Insert->Box. Beyond that potential nugget
of wisdom, I'm baffled.
How do I create a macro?
Check the wiki. Use M-x to get to the minibuffer (at the bottom of your
LyX window).
Could you file a bugzilla report regarding this section of the user guide?
