Jose, as far as I see this patch seems OK but I didn't look at it very 
closely nor tested it. JMarc will probably do a better job than me 
reviewing it. If JMarc cannot review it before beta3, I suggest to 
disable the RTL support by default for now.

The only thing (with turning RTL off again) is, as Darren (who already 
ran into the crash due to this) pointed out, how are we going to find 
out what problems there are with it if we don't leave it on? Wouldn't it 
be better to keep it in, and only turn it off in the final release if we 
still haven't been able to stabilize it? (For the same reason, I'd also 
be happier if my patch went in, so that we get much more extensive 
testing of it, as well...)

But I guess this depends on who exactly we see as the target audience of 
the beta releases...
